Maybe because the weather was so nice, or maybe because the last workshop fell on the same day as the Micronesian Island Fair, but whatever the reason, we had so much response that we had to close this last Saturday batik workshop at capacity. And what the photos show are an enthusiastic, inspired group that gathered at the Judy Flores garden studio. Colorful, whimsical, and just plain beautiful designs appeared from the worktables to hang to dry under the eves along with the latest crop of bananas.
It has been such fun to be able to offer these classes. As with a lot of these types of things, the teacher becomes inspired along with her students. The only problem is that increasingly we will be unable to fill the need. Just as this problem becomes clear to me, I come across a possible solution by way of technology. We believe we can soon offer these classes via streaming video. This can happen in real time with the class and teacher able to interact over the internet. We can also offer this to those who can’t make it to Inarajan, whether they live in Dededo or Delaware. Furthermore, a recorded version of the class is available for future viewing. Will enough people be interested in this? We’d love to find out. So far, I have gotten an enthusiastic response. If you’d like to let us know what you think, please email us at info@GuamBatikGallery.com
Until then, the next Judy Flores workshop is on December 10th, and enjoy these photos from last Saturday!

Hi Judy, I’m originally from Inarajan and now live in Monterey, Ca.
We went on a trip to Guam this year, on October of last month and stopped by at the shop
in Agana and bought a couple of your batiks and book. They were wall hanging pictures of Inarajan fiesta, Two Lover’s Point and Estorian Inalajan book. I’m enjoying your pictures and also found a weaved picture frames for them and is now hanging on my walls. I also enjoy reading your book aswell. A real “AWESOME” book to have and to know of our ancestors lives then, plus it’s pictorial. You are bless with an amazing talent…Keep up your beautiful work!!! I look forward in buying other pieces of your art work.
God Bless,
Ann M Quenga (San Nicolas)
